WashU Rec offers a versatile schedule of BearFit classes led by our experienced team of instructors. BearFit classes are held in the Sumers Recreation Center's three group exercise studios: the Olympic Studio, Studio 1904 and The Dark Room (cycling).
Take a Class, Move Your...
WashU Rec is providing an extra incentive for taking BearFit Classes this spring through the "Take a Class, Move Your..." program. Each time you take a BearFit class between Jan. 14 and Feb. 14, the instructor will give you a sticker to place next to your name on the leaderboard near the Member Services Desk. Participants with the first, second and third-most stickers by Feb. 14 will receive a prize! Everyone with at least one sticker on the board will also be entered into a prize raffle. It pays to be BearFit! There is no registration for this program ? just write your name on the leaderboard and start adding stickers next to it each time you take a class.
BearFit classes are complimentary to anyone with a membership to the Sumers Recreation Center. All BearFit classes except cycling classes and premium Pilates Classes (see below) operate on a drop-in basis and all classes are first-come, first served while spaces last.
Boxing gloves are required for BearFit Boxing classes, and participants are responsible for providing their own gloves. Gloves are available for purchase at the Sumers Recreation Center member services desk.
BearFit Pilates Reformer Classes
WashU Rec has pilates reformer classes Monday through Thursday in the South 40 Fitness Center. Cost of these classes is $10 per class, and class passes can be purchased in the online rec store. Space is limited to five participants per class and class spaces are first-come, first-served.
Cycling Class Passes
Members must have a Cycling Class Pass in order to participate in each BearFit Cycling class. Cycling Class Passes can be obtained up to 30 minutes in advance of each class at the equipment desk, and must be presented to the instructor upon entry into the studio. You must have your ID or membership card to obtain a class pass. There are only 24 passes available for each class, and passes will not be available earlier than 30 minutes prior to the start of class.
