Bear Adventures gives WashU students the opportunity to get off campus and experience some of the best attractions in the St. Louis region. Register for Bear Adventures on the online store under "Programs." Bear Adventures trips are only open to WashU students and other members of the Sumers Recreation Center.
When the cost of WashU Rec services or activities prevent an individual from participating, we offer financial assistance. Requests for assistance should be submitted at email@example.com.
All Bear Adventure trips are non-refundable.
Night Skiing and Tubing Trip
Friday, Jan. 25
Spend a night carving up the slopes at Hidden Valley Ski Resort in Wildwood, Mo. Hidden Valley's ski slopes have a 310-foot vertical dip on 15 trails in addition to a 16 lane tubbing hill.
Cost: $35 Includes transportation, equipment rental, and lift ticket.
Ice Skating Trip
Friday, Feb. 15
Enjoy and evening of skating at Steinberg Skating Rink, complete with a hot cocoa break. Carve up the ice with your friends amongst the natural beauty of Forest Park.
Cost: $5 Includes transportation, skate rental, and hot cocoa.
Hike, Wine and Food Festival at Eckert's Farm
This trip is for graduate students only. Participants must be 21 or older.
Saturday, March 9
Enjoy an day at the annual Eckert?s Farm Wine and Food Festival. This trip starts with a hike in the morning along the Missouri River followed by cooking demos and product samplings at Eckert's. Participants will get the chance to try local, domestic and international wines and craft beers.
Cost: $20 Includes transportation, light lunch, and festival tickets.
Hike Pere Marquette Short Loop
Sunday, March 31
The Pere Marquette Short Loop is a 6.2 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Grafton, Ill. The trail is rated as moderate and primarily used for hiking, trail running, and birding. Enjoy some spectacular views of the river and some fun and challenging hills along this trail.
Cost: $10 Includes transportation and lunch.
Saturday, April 13
Challenge yoruself to the Go Ape Zipline and Treetop Adventure in Creve Coeur Park. This adventure includes a 2-3-hour aerial journey through the forest canopy. The high ropes course includes suspended obstacles, swings and breathtaking zip lines.
Cost: $35 Includes transportation and Go Ape admission.
