Bear Adventures gives WashU students the opportunity to get off campus and experience some of the best attractions in the St. Louis region. Register for Bear Adventures on the online store under "Programs." Bear Adventures trips are only open to WashU students and other members of the Sumers Recreation Center.
When the cost of WashU Rec services or activities prevent an individual from participating, we offer financial assistance. Requests for assistance should be submitted at email@example.com.
All Bear Adventure trips are non-refundable.
Yoga at the Arch and Soulard Market
Saturday, Sept. 1
Start your day off right with yoga under the Gateway Arch followed by a trip to the historic Soulard Farmer's Market. The yoga class is for all levels, including beginners, and will be led by a BearFit yoga instructor. Class will combine posture and breathing techniques and will focus on building strength, flexibility and stamina. Following class, the group will head to Soulard to visit the oldest farmer's market west of the Mississippi River. Participants will get the opportunity to see the market and shop amongst local vendors.
Cost: $10 Includes transportation, yoga class and lunch.
Hike and Lunch at Castlewood Park
Saturday, Sept. 15
Spend a day enjoying the natural beauty of Castlewood State Park. With nearly 17 miles of trails, Castlewood offers the best variety of hiking in the area. From the flat and curvy trails along the Meramec river, to the numerous climbs and downhills on the bluffs, there's something for everyone. This adventure includes a day of hiking and exploring along the Meramec River and Cedar Bluff with a stop for an outdoor picnic along the way.
Cost: $10 Includes transportation and lunch.
Katy Trail and Winery Break
This trip is for graduate students only. Participants must be 21 or older.
Saturday, Sept. 29
The Katy Trail just happens to cut through Missouri Wine Country, and numerous wineries are easily accessible from the trail. You can combine biking the Katy Trail with a wine tasting tour, sampling some nationally-recognized wines along the way. This biking adventure begins in Defiance, Mo., followed by stop for a sampling at the Sugar Creek Winery. Further down the trail will be a stop at Defiance Ridge Winery where the group will sample some more wine and have lunch. This trip is only open to Grad Students. It includes transportation, bike rentals, flights at Sugar Creek and lunch and wine tasting at Defiance Ridge.
Cost: $30 Includes transportation, bike rental, wine tastings and lunch.
Fall Break Day Trip to the Ozarks
Monday, Oct. 15
Spend your fall break in one of Missouri's top outdoor destinations. This all-day adventure includes hiking, yoga, an outdoor picnic, a trip to Bridal Cave, dinner and a sunset cruise on Lake of the Ozarks.
Cost: $30 Includes transportation, lunch, entry fees, dinner and sunset cruise.
