Olympic Lift Techniques: Learning the Fast Lifts

The benefits of Olympic-style weightlifting are being discovered more and more by coaches, athletes, and general population. Whether you are looking to improve your sports performance or changing body composition, snatches and clean and jerks are great exercises for more than just competitive weightlifters. This session will address proper form and technique to these powerful and fast lifts.
Deadlift 101: Picking Up Things Properly
Feb. 24, 1-2 p.m.
This session will provide guidance and universal principles on how to set-up and execute a proper deadlift - the most functional strength exercise. This instruction will act as a guide to protect your back when you pick things up from the floor whether it?s in the gym or around the house. This session will also include different pulling variations that supplement deadlift strength.
Weight Management: Losing and Gaining
March 24, 1-2 p.m.
You know the basics: Eat less and move more to lose weight, eat more to gain weight. Despite these seemingly simple recommendations, it?s not always so easy to gain muscle or lose fat and you can get bogged down with misinformation. This session will help you figure out exactly what steps to take in order to reach your weight loss or weight gain goals as well as give you reliable resources to help you stick to it.
Running: Race Planning & Gait Analysis
April 21, 1-2 p.m.
This session is an opportunity to determine your running fitness as well as learn race planning strategies. A certified personal trainer and experienced runner will be leading this class to give feedback on running technique and provide insight into race planning and race-day strategies. This class can especially help those looking to start a running program and who want guidance on how to begin and how to progress. All runners are welcome.
Squatting 101: Learning Safe Techniques
May 5, 1-2 p.m.
An instructional session for the barbell back-squat along with variations and the criteria used to determine a safe and efficient squat. This session will provide guidance on how to strengthen your squat while maintaining biomechanical efficiency.
