The gymnastics club traveled to Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, Feb. 17, to compete in the Buckeye Blast hosted by Ohio State. Competing in men's events, Khy Chestnut posted an all-around score of 59.5 hilighted by a 12.2 on the floor exercise while Alli Weske posted an all-around score of 57.4 with a high score of 12.1 on the floor exercise. In women's events, Jordan Sligar posted an all-around score of 28.1 highlighted by an 8.25 on floor exercise, Andie Zuzarte posted an all-around score of 27.45 highlighted by a 7.2 on vault and Samantha Rubenstein posted an all-around score of 24.95 highlighted by a 7.6 on beam.
The WashU triathlon club traveled to Iowa City, Iowa on Sunday, Feb. 18, to compete in the Tropical Indoor Triathlon. Hannah Acton finished fifth in the women's collegiate race while Maria Hyrc took sixth.
WashU also hosted its home triathlon, "Tri WashU" on Sunday, March 4, at the Sumers Recreation Center. More than 80 participants from nine schools competed in the event. Katherine Velicki was WashU's top finisher with a win in the women's race followed by Emily Fox in fifth, Hannah Acton in 10th, Maria Hyrc in 13th and Catherine Cowin in 14th. On the men's side, Sean Fallon finished fourth, Jeremy Wojtak finished 19th, Alex Clouser finished 20th, Michael Kramer finsihed 21st and Jamie Fuhrman took 24th.
The women's water polo club competed in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Conference Tournament Saturday and Sunday Feb. 24-25 in Springifeld, Ohio. WashU went 3-1 in the tournament with wins over Wittenberg (20-2), Miami-Ohio (11-6) and Saint Louis (Forfeit) and a loss to Cincinnati (9-6).
The men's ultimate club "Contra" competed in the Dust Bowl tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-25 in Tulsa, Okla. Contra went 2-4 in the tournament with wins over Hendrix (8-3) and Kansas B (14-5) and losses to Colorado (11-3), Arkansas State (10-2 and 13-12) and Oklahoma B (13-9).
Contra also competed in the Midwest Throwdown Saturday and Sunday, March 3-4, in Columbia, Mo. Contra went 5-2 in the tournament to finish second out of 32 teams. WashU picked up wins over Minnesota-Duluth (twice), Marquette, Missouri and Carleton College before falling to Ohio State in the finals. WashU's B squad "Contraband" went 2-4 in the tournament and finished two spots ahead of its seed at 24th-place. Contraband picked wins over Wisconcin C and Grinnell.
The WashU mens' squash team hosted Northwestern and Indiana for a round robin tournament on Saturday, Feb. 17, in the Grimm Racuqet Courts. The Bears split the tournament with a pair of losses to Northwestern (8-0 and 7-1) while sweepting Indiana (8-0 and 8-0).
Men's squash also competed in the Men's Squash National Championships on Saturday and SUnday, Feb. 24-25, in Hartford, Conn. WashU went 2-1 in the tournament to finish third of six teams in Division H. The Bears picked up wins over Sewanee 8-1 and Minnesota (7-1) while suffering a loss to Vanderbilt (6-3).
The men's rugby club suffered a 65-5 loss to Kansas on Saturday, Feb. 24, at South Campus Field. Jonah Bernstein scored WashU's lone try in what was his first rugby match to earn man of the match honors.
The tennis club won its third-consecutive USTA Missouri Valley Tennis on Campus Sectional title last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. The Bears defeated Saint Louis (30-11), Missouri (22-17) and Truman State (30-9) to sweep pool play before downing Iowa (24-17) in the semifinals and Iowa State (27-18) in the championship match. WashU's title run was highlighted by sominance at singles where senior Luke Formean and junior Mackenzie Phillips went the entire tournament without dropping a set. WashU advances to the Tennis on Campus National Championships in April.
The women's volleyball club competed in the Midwest Plains Volleyball Conference East Regional on Saturday, March 3, in Springfield, Ill. The Bears went 3-1 in the tournament, finishing third in the 10-team field. WashU defeated Illinois-Springfield (25-16, 25-7), Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (25-19, 19-25, 16-14) and Maryville (25-21, 25-17) and lost to Arkansas (25-16, 25-15).
The badminton club traveled to Champaign, Ill., Saturday and Sunday, March 3-4, to compete in the University of Illinois Spring Badminton Open. Edward Ding and Alan Wang finished second in men's doubles for WashU.
The men's volleyball club traveled to Peoria, Ill., Saturday and Sunday, March 3-4, to compete in tournament at Bradley. WashU finished fifth out of 27 teams with a three-set win over Butler (26-24, 22-25, 15-11).
The WashU women's ultimate club (WUWU), traveled to Columbia, Mo., Saturday and SUnday, March 3-4, to compete in the Midwest Throwdown. WUWU's A squad "Iron Horse" finsihed sixth in th etournament with wins over Wisconsin Eau-Claire, Iowa, Chicago and Kansas while WUWU's B squad "Locamotive" picked up its first win of the season over Drake.
The men's lacrosse club picked up a 12-3 win over crosstown rival Saint Louis on Saturday, March 3, at South Campus Field.
