The WashU women's volleyball club went 5-1 and finished as the tournament runner-up in the Midwest Plains Volleyball Conference East Regional on Saturday, Feb. 4, in Edwardsville, Ill. WashU defeated Maryville 25-18, 25-23 and SIU Edwardsville A 19-25, 26-24, 15-8 to sweep its pool before topping Lewis 25-16, 23-25, 15-7 in crossover play. The Bears opened bracket play with a 25-12, 25-15 win over SIU Edwardsville A, and topped Missouri S&T 25-12, 25-13 in the semifinal. WashU pushed Arkansas to three sets in the championship match, but fell 25-19, 15-25, 15-6.
The WashU men's squash club hit the road on Saturday and Sunday, Feb 4-5 to take on two Chicago-area teams at MetroSquash. The Bears dropped a pair of matches to Northwestern and one to the University of Chicago.
The WashU men's lacrosse team opened its season with a 12-4 win over Creighton on Saturday, Feb. 11 at South Campus Field. Andrew Montgomery and Ed Larkin each finished with three goals for the Bears while Henry Sippel won 13 of 15 draws in the faceoff X and Justin Wyda saved 12 of 16 shots in goal to pick up the win.
